Gordon Ramsay is always up for an adventure and his latest one led him to South Africa’s beautiful KwaZulu-Natal region. Gordon was on the hunt for the perfect ingredients to make OSTRICH Scrambled Eggs – because why not?! He found some ostrich eggs, added a bit of local flair (like he does!) and created a delicious meal. Gordon’s OSTRICH Scrambled Eggs with South African Flair is sure to tantalize your taste buds and make you feel like Gordon himself! Check out the recipe below so you can make Gordon Ramsay’s OSTRICH Scrambled Eggs at home. Bon Appétit!

Recipe:

Chop up tomatoes, onion, and pepper and combine in a bowl. Season the mixture with salt and pepper before setting it aside. Prepare spring onions, red chili peppers, and green chilies by finely chopping each ingredient. Break ostrich eggs into a separate bowl with melted butter and whisk together until combined.

Heat a non-stick pan over the grill or high heat and add the egg mixture. Scramble the eggs by mixing, then removing from and returning to the heat to ensure they don’t overcook. Once finished, add crème fraiche and season with salt before taking off the heat. Plate Gordon Ramsay’s OSTRICH Scrambled Eggs and garnish with the relish. Enjoy!

Ostrich eggs are the biggest of any living bird’s eggs, measuring around 15 centimeters in length and 12 centimeters in width. They have a thick shell that is covered in small bumps, with an average weight of over 1.3 kilograms—roughly equivalent to 24 chicken eggs. Ostrich eggshells have been used by humans throughout history as containers and for decorative artwork. Gordon Ramsay would certainly be impressed if you served him OSTRICH Scrambled Eggs!

Ostrich eggs are only found in certain regions of the world, including South Africa. They’re not a common food item, but they can be boiled or fried like any other egg. The nutritional content is actually very similar to that of chicken eggs, making them a healthy and nutrient-dense snack.

So if you ever find yourself in South Africa, why not try a dish of OSTRICH Scrambled Eggs? Gordon Ramsay would definitely approve!
